Pololi: Hawaiian Poke in Hong Kong

Pololi

Most of the time, I am having lunch in the Soho / Central area and often find myself struggling for a healthy, quick and tasty lunch at a decent price especially when I am not a big salad eater. Pololi definitely fits what I am looking for.

Pololi is the first dedicated Hawaiian Poke, pronounced “Po-kay” shop in Hong Kong. In a nutshell, it is a rice ball topped with fresh marinated raw tuna. The surfboards and colorful painting reflects the casual and laid back attitude of Hawaii. Either take a seat inside or even better enjoy your lunch outside in the sun.

If you never been to Pololi, the menu is damn easy and super good. Pick up your base made out of brown or white rice and even salad. Choose your marinated tuna amongst the 10 available options and your choice of drinks (the usual and a nice selection of local craft beers).

My favorites were the wasabi mayonnaise tuna and the avocado one. Another safe option, if you can really handle your spices, is the Spicy marinated tuna.

Pololi: Hawaiian Poke in Hong Kong

Being a big fan or marinated raw tuna, I really enjoyed the variety of recipes satisfying everyone’s taste. Strangely enough, the rice based was served warm contrary to sushi. I keep the Hawaiian spirit trhought the meal, I would have loved to see some local soft drinks but that’s my 2 cents. The best part is you won’t cry when you got to pay the bill. For 98 HKD including soft drinks, it comes at a bargain for a healthy meal. Finally, get your stamp card as for every 10 lunch you get one free.
